Rivas Osos (Rivas Bears in English language) is an american football team based in Rivas-Vaciamadrid, Community of Madrid (Spain).

History

The team was established in the spring of 1989 as Madrid Bears, changing names to Madrid Osos when they joined their first official competition by the end of that year. During those first years, the team received a lot of help (equipment, players, coaching staff, etc.) from the American soldiers stationed at the nearby base of Torrejón. In 2000, the team moved to their actual location, Rivas, changing names again to Rivas Osos.

They have won the LNFA once, in 2001, and were runners-up in 1999 and 2002. They have also conquered the King of Spain's Cup in 2001, 2002, 2003, 2007 and 2009.

History The beginnings

The club was founded as Madrid Bears in the spring of 1989, changing name to Osos Madrid to join his first official competition, the Second Catalan Football League (I Supercopa of Spain) [1].

Thus Osos Bears became the pioneer of football in Madrid. The club began as the initiative of a number of athletes from the team Larios and athletes who had studied and lived in the U.S., with the invaluable help of different people and military of the American air base at Torrejon de Ardoz, Madrid in . Thanks to all of them managed teams, coaches and players.

The team played their first game at the Community of Madrid before 500 spectators in a friendly match against the Búfals Barcelona in July 1989, which despite losing by 14-6 defeat left a good taste in your mouth, you end up was vital to the development of new equipment such as Madrid Panthers, Dolphins Toros de Madrid and Madrid.

The Bears' first participation in official competition necessitated the search for a sponsor to defray the cost of equipment. The football in Spain and was practiced, but only in the area of Catalonia, as Bears II was entered in the Catalan Football League (I Supercopa of Spain), making his debut against the then league champions, Badalona Dracs , who was defeated by just one game of experience.

The team lost and remained runners-up in Spain.
